Design, precision, and love of the sea
Many of us are drawn to the marine industry by more than the technical details of the job. Knowing our products will spend a life in the wind and waves connects us with our sense of adventure.
But right now…
You’ve got content deadlines to meet
Whether you’re a business owner without a marketing department, a marketing manager with several roles, or a marketing director overseeing a marketing staff, you’ve got a lot to do. You’ve got campaigns to plan and deadlines to meet. It’s tough to keep up with all that content.
You need a content writer who understands the marine industry
Because you’re busy, you need a writer who gets up to speed quickly. Someone who understands not only content marketing, but also your business and your customers. Let’s be honest, there are a lot of good writers out there. But how many of them really understand the marine industry?
Boats are in my blood
OK, not literally, but…
I’ve spent my whole life in and around boats.
My father taught me the basics of seamanship that he learned in the Navy. I used to practice what I learned in our outboard ski boat. Later, when I was 14, I bought my first boat and taught myself to sail.
Years later, I worked as a marine mechanic on seafood processing barges in Alaska. I kept skiffs, refrigeration units, water systems, hydraulic units, and other machinery running their best.
In the off-season, I lived in Washington State. There I learned how to lose money while commercial fishing. A buddy and I bought an old boat and fished it in Puget Sound. From that experience, I got an advanced education in seamanship, navigation, and maintaining an old vessel. We worked hard. And had fun. It was a great adventure.
Recent adventures
These days, I work as a freelance writer and university English teacher.
I spend my off time in boats whenever possible. I charter sailboats with my ASA Day Skipper certificate, and scuba dive as a PADI certified Advanced Open Water diver. Whenever possible, I go fishing, sea kayaking, and river rafting.
Lately, I’ve become quite fascinated with modern marine technology and innovations like composite construction, hydrofoils, and clean energy propulsion. I’m excited to see how technology will continue to transform future vessels.
What my experience can do for you
My lifetime of boating experience helps me understand your prospects and customers. Whether they’re buying a boat, building one, or using one in commerce, I have a clear sense of what your audience is looking for.
Understanding your audience is the core of good marketing. That’s why my copy will attract more prospects, build better relationships, and bring you more sales for your marine business.
